Dear family and friends,

Alma 37:45
"And now I say, is there not a type in this thing? For just as surely as this director did bring our fathers, by following its course, to the promised land, shall the words of Christ, if we follow their course, carry us beyond this vale of sorrow into a far better land of promise."

Christmas Eve was great. So was Christmas. 2nd Christmas was pretty good too. Haha no really (maybe that wasn't funny but...) it was a great week. We had a super cool Ward Christmas Party on Wednesday night and our amazing ward gave Elder Knaupp and I each a big package and lots of love. The Dutch people really are great. And we have a very special ward. We were able to visit with members and investigators on Christmas Eve and 1st and 2nd Christmas and it was sick. I had the opportunity to Google Chat with the fam on Christmas night and that was great. The first five minutes I didn't really know what to say, but the rest of the time it went pretty smooth. I got to see Genevieve's (my 7 month old niece) beautiful face fill up the scene coming out of Washington, and from Wisconsin came the voices and faces of the rest of my wonderful family. Lots of siblings asking me to speak Dutch and me not knowing what to say, and no tears. Kind of disappointed about that but it was nice. I love my family. God has really been watching over them these past 7 months.

On Saturday we were able to meet with a girl and her mother that Elder Knaupp and Elder Reese had contacted on exchanges a couple weeks ago. Her name is Ilkay and she is one of the nicest and sweetest people I have ever met. Her mother, Nilgun, is from Turkey and Ilkay was born in Zwolle when Nilgun moved here to marry her husband 20ish years ago. We were able to talk to them both about prayer and Ilkay showed a lot of interest in coming to church and she said that at the beginning of our next appointment she would pray. Sunday morning we were able to stop by her home and ride to the church with her. She stayed the whole three hours! We talked more about prayer and also about learning through our feelings in the gospel principles/visitors class. She loved it and it was great to see how kind and loving the ward members were to her. Elder Knaupp and I are both very excited to keep working with Ilkay and Nilgun and teaching more about Jesus Christ and His Church.

Sorry this was pretty short, and no pictures this week. I'll throw in some lekker photos (?) next week that should make up for it. The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is true. It's the restored church of Jesus Christ on the earth today. Everybody have a great New Years and don't drink alcohol. Love you all and until next year...

Tot 2016
