Hallo,
Scripture of the Week
Scripture of the Week
Matthew 10:39 - "He that findeth his life shall lose it: and he that loseth his life for my sake shall find it."
I've realized that up to this point, half of my titles have had absolutely nothing to do with the content of my e-mail, or I just haven't explained it at all. This weeks title is kind of self-explanatory. On Friday I reached 100 days as a missionary.
Last Monday Elder Wilson and I may or may not have left our keys in the apartment. It really wasn't either of our faults, just some miscommunication. We ended up getting an extra set by the end of the day but we definitely learned our lesson and now we carry an extra pair of keys with us at all times.
On Friday we went to Rijswijk, near Den Haag, to get my official Netherlands ID. When we got to the building, the official at the front desk asked for my passport and some other information. Somehow, I have no idea how, 50 euros had found its way into my passport. The man opened up my passport, saw the bill, saw the look on my face, and just burst out laughing... He gave me back the passport and the 50 euros.
The Netherlands is insane. Some of the advertisements we see here, the people we meet, and just the overall lack of morals, makes me really respect the members of the church here, and honestly any religious people. It's sad to see how low of a priority religion is in this country. I guess America and the rest of the world are starting down the same path as well. Towards the end of the Book of Mormon, we see the destruction of a people who had become consumed in their sin and pride. It's very sad and discouraging to read about a people who were once so happy, so loving, and so close to our Heavenly Father, fall away so quickly. In the last chapter of the Book of Mormon, Moroni bares a final testimony and tells us that there is hope. We can move forward, and come closer to Christ, despite the destruction all around us. "...he that loseth his life for my sake shall find it." As we press forward with faith in Christ, and put our trust in God, we will find new strength, and will be triumphant in the glory of God.
I found a really cool saying in a talk that I was reading this past week. It goes, "You can count the number of seeds in a single apple, but you can't count the number of apples in a single seed." I mean of course as missionaries, we're pushing for more than just planting seeds, but sometimes all you can do is plant a seed.
Everybody have an amazing week. I'm so thankful for all of your e-mails and love. I've been told the Packers are playing the Bears this week... Go Pack Go!
Tot later!
Elder Wright
