Dear family and friends,

2 Nephi 1:21
"...arise from the dust, my sons, and be men, and be determined in one mind and in one heart, united in all things..."

So, correct me if I'm wrong, but the Dutch are now at war. Along with sever other countries. My prayers go out to all affected by the terrorist actions in Paris almost a week and a half ago. This e-mail will tell you all a little bit about what it's like to be a missionary in a war zone...

It's really no different than usual. Zwolle seems to be a pretty safe location for the time being. I haven't felt in danger too much this week. There were a few occasions where I felt a little bit of a lack of safety. A lady told us that she has friends in America who told her all about the Mormons, and apparently we're pretty evil. Like I didn't know that already. I mean eternal marriage and the knowledge that I have the opportunity to live with our Heavenly Father again, for example. Terrible. I don't know. Maybe me and 80,000 other missionaries are all brainwashed or something. No. Haha, anyway she told me to "pas op" or "watch out". That experience wasn't too bad though. Another lady took a few steps back and her eyes got super big when she realized we were Mormons. She said "I believe in Jesus Christ". So do we... Okay, so neither of those experiences really threatened our safety. I just was looking for an excuse to mention eternal marriage. God protects His missionaries.

It was a pretty decent week. We had Zone Training on Wednesday. It was super good. Childs killed it. So did Elder Reese. Everybody did a great job actually. It was a great Zone Training. After that was finished, Childs and Reese gave us a ride back to an area by our apartment. Knaup wanted to do bell-ups... I've always thought of bell-ups as one of the least effective forms of contacting. I mean you're just speaking through this little microphone. You don't even get to see the person! Thank you to Elder Knaup for his faith though. We talked to a lot of cool people, got some return appointments, and even were let in by Amer and his dad Samer. They are originally from Syria and then they lived in Palestine for a while and now they've been here for six months. Their story is pretty sad. We were able to testify to them that they will see their lost family members again and that God loves them. We'll be going back this week to talk with them again. Super cool.

The rest of the week went pretty well. Cold and rainy with a little hail and snow here and there. Today we had the Appeldorn Zone Turkey Bowl. Very muddy and a lot of fun. No turkey showed up unfortunately. Happy Thanksgiving week though!

Love you all and hope you have a great week and a great Thanksgiving. Stay safe.

Tot volgende week
