Dear family and friends,
Mosiah 29:20 - "...and thus doth the Lord work with his power in all cases among the children of men, extending the arm of mercy towards them that put their trust in him."
Hey wassup iedereen. This week was fun. Sort of a mess. We had Zone Conference in Rotterdam on Tuesday, Elder Harp went down to Brussel on Friday, and We had a sick Stake Conference on Saturday and Sonday. Due to poor planning and time management we weren't able to snag too many lessons this week but it was great nonetheless.
It was nice to be able to go back to Rotterdam for a little bit. We got to stay with Elder Morrell and Elder Da Silva in Rotterdam South and that was fun. It was good to be able to catch up with Elder Morrell and catch up on what's happened in Rotterdam since I've been gone. I love that ward/area.
Zone Conference was cool. It was great to hear from our leaders and I learned a lot personally. One of the best conferences yet in my opinion. My favorite quotes from the concert:
"Don't be Peyton Manning" - Elder Hirsch
"When you hesitate, you die" - Elder Bonner
"Maybe some of you are not angels" - President Van der Put
President Bunnell talked a lot about the Spirit and that was great and eye opening. Sister Bunnell talked about repentance and that was great. It was such a solid conference.
Wednesday night we had a sick appointment with Denise and her mom Lilian. Lilian shared an amazing experience that she had recently that really strengthened her testimony. She has been working for a while to get her Dutch citizenship. In December she fasted for three days (three days!) for her citizenship to be cleared. On the third day she came home from work, was looking through the mail, a boom! Citizenship granted. This past Thursday Lilian was made a Dutch citizen. She attributes it all to God. Congratulations to Lilian and thanks to her for the testimony building and faithful experience. Our Heavenly Father still works miracles. So sick!
Friday was stellar. While Elder Harp went down to Brussel, I stayed and worked in Emmen with Elder Perry and Elder Dearden. We had a nice eventful day of knocking doors that reminded me of how fun missionary work is and built my testimony through the miracles we saw. We met some sick people, including this guy who agreed to take a picture of us on his doorstep, this nice Dutch girl who took a selfie with us and invited us back, and Drew an American! He came to the Netherlands a while ago to play basketball and has been here for a while now. He has met missionarie before and invited us to come back and said that stake or hamburgers would be included in the next visit. Honestly though the best part of the day was seeing how many people were smiling when they closed their doors, whether they accepted the gospel or not. At least there we can know that we made a good impression and left them open to accept the gospel at a future date. It's amazing how happy the Gospel and faith can make people.
Saturday and Sunday we had Stake Conference. It was really cool and inspiring and it was nice to be able to understand it a little bit better than the last Conference in Rotterdam. The Apeldoorn stake is blessed with amazing leaders and members. I'm honored to be able to serve with them for a time.
I love being a missionary and I know that the work that we do is the work of God. I love you all and hope everybody has a great week full of spiritual experiences and answers to your prayers.
Love,
Elder Wright
