Dear family and friends,
Romans 1:16 - "For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth..."
I hope everybody had a great week and I hope you'll be enjoying your first weeks of Spring. Here it's a little chilly but getting warmer and the tulips are starting to pop up everywhere. It also gets light at like 6 am now so it's going to start getting a lot easier to wake up on time. On the other hand shout out to the fam in Wisconsin where they're expecting snow again this week. I love Wisconsin.
This week was cool. We had Zone Training on Wednesday and that was super good. Our sister training leader, Sister Duncan, threw down accountability and that was sick. One of the mission culture points is that we are 100% accountable for 100% of our actions 100% of the time, no excuses. It's pretty solid and it pushes me to work harder and to stop making excuses. Elder Hosea spoke about the Restoration. About how important it's message is and how we cannot down play it's importance. He did great. Elder Hosea's really great at just "slamming" you with the Spirit when he bears testimony at the end of his presentations. After Elder Hosea, Elder Parr had a sick presentation on commitments and the importance of commitments. If we aren't extending commitments to our investigators than we are not fulfilling our purpose as missionaries. That got me stoked to start coming up with more clear commitments for our investigators. Last part of Zone Training we split of into four groups and rotated around and I had the opportunity to talk to members of the zone about The Power and Authority of Our Calling. It's a section of Preach My Gospel and somehow I was able to throw arm wrestling into it as a sort of analogy and we got to see President Bunnell are wrestle with Elder Howard. That was fun.
Other than that the week was pretty good. We had some solid appointments with investigators and were referred to this new guy named Robert. He was being taught in England and Ireland for the past two years and is super cool. He lives about 30 minutes by train from Zwolle and I'm excited to keep working with him. He's a really good guy. We were able to visit with him yesterday and get to know him and learn about his experiences with faith and with the missionaries. We'll be seeing him again this week.
We were able to meet with Etty again this week which was great. She just had a baby girl two weeks ago so she's been kind of unavailable for a couple weeks. This week we were able to start the lessons again with her and we talked about like half of the first lesson and we had some really good conversations about God, prayer, families, and prophets. That was cool and she has a super fun three-year-old named Naiska who is funny and laughs and smiles a lot so that always makes going over to Etty's even more fun. I love her kids. It's nice too because they remind me of my beautiful nieces and my nephew back home. It's cool that I have the opportunity to help Etty and her kids come closer to Christ as a family and have the opportunity to live together forever just like I hope my family will.
The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is true and it is lead by a prophet who has been called of God. I love this gospel and am so thankful for the happiness and guidance that it brings to my life. I've seen a lot of changes in my life over the past ten months and I think the biggest is that I really know that God has a plan for me. I know where I come from, why I'm here on earth, and where I am going after this life. I know that God loves me and knows me. I know that the Book of Mormon is true. I know that Jesus Christ suffered for my sins. He knows exactly how I feel and He is walking along with me as I go through trials and have hard experiences. He carries me when I feel that I can't go any farther, and He picks me up when I fall.
Everybody have a great week and Happy Easter! Also shout out to my amazing parents for celebrating their 30th Anniversary! They're amazing and I could never ask for better parents. They're so great.
Love,
Elder Wright
