D&C 19:16-17 -> "For behold, I, God, have suffered these things for all, that they might not suffer if they would repent; But if they would not repent they must suffer even as I..."
Dear family and friends,
This week was nice. Elder Crowder and I saw some crazy miracles and had some and we worked hard. I think Wednesday might have one of the biggest highlights of the week. We went on exchanges with Rotterdam North. Elder Leigh and his greenie, Elder Mikkelson, came to South and all four of us worked here. I worked with Elder Mikkelson. He is a fun guy. He visa waited in Montana and he just got to the Netherlands last week. He is a great missionary! It was a lot of fun to work with him. We got a lot done.
At first the day seemed like a typical missionary day. You go to your first appointment, their mom tells you they just left for their job at McDonalds, you ask her when he'll be back, she doesn't know, you go look up a potential, she's not home, then you leave and go look up an investigator in a different neighborhood who missed an earlier appointment and he's not home. So I was getting that feeling... "Oh no, another one of those days." Haha yeah no it turned around with a little faith and guidance from the Spirit and walking back to the area where we started the day off with. We got back to that area and turned down the wrong street. I realized it was the wrong street and we were going to turn back, but then we met Quitin and Shaklina. I'm not 100% sure about that name spelling but it looks about right. They were just chilling in their car and we were able to share the message of the Restoration with them right then and there and leave them with a prayer and a return appointment. They're super cool and very ghetto. It's awesome. After that we were walking to the metro station and all of the sudden Diri walks around a corner. He's covered in paint and he's in some work clothers and he just sees us and smiles and says hi. Diri got some work! Haha so I guess that morning he put on some work clothes and was just walking around the neighborhood with no real destination and some ladies ask him if he's a painter... he says "yes. yes I am." (he's not). And now he has a job! Haha Diri is great. Throughout the rest of the day we were able to talk to a ton of awesome people, give out six Book of Mormons, and set up ten return appointments between the four of us! It was so cool!
On Saturday we had some cool appointments with Eric and this new guy named John. He's from Suriname and we shared the Restoration with him and he loved it! He's super cool and next week he said he would come to church. We also had dinner with Oma Buntin on Saturday and here is your Oma B quote of the week - "I love kiwis. I love all fruits. I love everything." I love that woman.
I gave a talk on Sunday about love so that went well as you would expect haha... We did have this super cool lesson with this girl name Reshandra. She is actually a friend of Quintin and Shaklina. Since they weren't home when we went over for our appointment we asked her if we could share a message with her and she said yes. It was great and she's super excited to learn more. Reshandra. We meet the coolest people here!
I hope you all have a great week and make sure to read in the Book of Mormon. It's true and it's the word of God along with the Bible. Only one way to find out though, right? Ask God.
Love,
Elder Wright
