Alma 58:40 -> "But behold, they have received many wounds; nevertheless they stand fast in that liberty wherewith God has made them free; and they are strict to remember the Lord their God from day to day; yea, they do observe to keep his statutes, and his judgments, and his commandments continually; and their faith is strong in the prophecies concerning that which is to come."
Dear family and friends,
Today is the last day of Ramadan! I've gained a lot of respect for the Islamic people. We talk with them on the street a lot and work with a few and the ones who have been fasting for the past thirty days go hard. They´re very nice people.
Also there are a ton of birthday shoutouts today! Happy birthday America, happy birthday Alexis (June 30), and happy birthday Dad (July 9)! I love America, and while it is amazing to be here in the beautiful country of the Netherlands, I will never forget my home and the love that I have for the United States. Alexis is an amazing sister and she´s become a mom while I´ve been on my mission! I love her with all of my heart. My dad is my hero and I don´t know what I would do without him. He is an amazing example for me in every way. Happy birthday!
This week was very busy. One of the best parts of the week was working with John Ardin. We had a lesson with him on Tuesday and Broeder Aukema came as a joint teach. We talked with him about the Plan of Salvation and he understood it very well! We talked about premortal life, the fall, life on earth, and we ended half way through the lesson by talking about the Atonement of Jesus Christ. We talked with him again after that about praying to know if the message of the Restoration, and everything that it entails, is true. We also talked about baptism and how important that is and we're able to set a baptismal date/goal with him! We are going to try and meet with him three times every week until then. John is great and I'm very excited for him.
On Wednesday we got to go on exchanges in Amsterdam with Elder Hirsch and Elder da Silva. That was really cool. I worked with Elder Hirsch for the day. He's a great missionary and a very fun person to work with. We did a lot of bell-ups in this one area and met some nice people, but nobody who had very much time to let us in and listen to our message. The very last bell we rung (it's always the last one) a man name Larry from Cameroon let us in. He's a very nice and very intelligent guy. We talked with him about the Book of Mormon and set up a new appointment to come back. He was really interested and I'm excited to see how he progresses.
The rest of the week after that went by really quickly. We met some new people, one really cool lady and her son from Bulgaria, and had a big meeting near Leiden with a bunch of other missionaries from around the mission. It was a really good week. I learned a ton and my testimony of teaching and working with the Spirit grew a lot. I love being a missionary!
I hope you all have a great week! Happy birthday Dad and Alexis!!!
Love,
Elder Wright
