Alma 7:11-12 -> "And he shall go forth, suffering pains and afflictionsand temptations of every kind; and this that the word might be fulfilled which saith he will take upon him the pains and the sicknesses of his people. And he will take upon him death, that he may loose the bands of death which bind his people; and he will take upon him their infirmities, that his bowels may be filled with mercy, according to the flesh, that he may know according to the flesh how to succor his people according to their infirmities."
Dear family and friends,
It was another great week in Rotterdam South, and luckily not my last. Unfortunately I´ll be saying goodbye to Elder Crowder for this next transfer. He´ll be going up to 020/Amsterdam to serve for the next while. He´s been a great companion, even just for six weeks, and I´ve been really thankful for his example and friendship. He´ll do great in Amsterdam. My new companion will be Elder Thornock! He was also at BYU at the same time as me and he was in my MTC group too (two in a row). He´s super fun and I´ve had the opportunity to work with him a little bit the past two transfers so I´m excited to work full time with him this coming transfer.
This week was really cool and we met some nice people. I´ve grown to really love the people of Rotterdam South. Both the members and the investigators and just the people we meet everyday on the street. Some of them are crazy! It´s been cool though. We got a new phone a couple of weeks ago so we´ve been able to show a lot of people the Because He Lives video and a lot of people have really liked it. I´ve seen that when people watch it it really softens their hearts and they feel the Spirit and are more open to hearing our message. We talked with this Polish girl and her daughter on the street yesterday and asked her if we could show her a video in Polish. She said yes and we watched it and afterwards she was a lot nicer and despite not believing in God she accepted a Book of Mormon, gave us her address so that we could come over sometime, and said that she would give God another chance and try and figure out if He´s there. Her name is Adrianne, she´s been in the Netherlands a few years, and she has almost perfect English with the hint of a British accent because she was a teacher back in Poland. I love learning people´s stories when we talk to them on the streets. We meet so many people every day and hear a lot of people´s problems, worries, beliefs, and hopes. The answers to all of their questions and problems can be found in the message that we share. I´ve really gained a strong testimony of that the past year.
We saw a big miracle on Sunday. We had lost contact with John Ardin for the past almost two weeks and I was getting a little worried because we had absolutely no idea where he was and he´s super cool so we want to keep in contact with him and help him. On Sunday he came to church! I was so happy! I saw him sitting next to Oma Croese when I walked into the chapel and I was like, "No way!!!" It was awesome. It was an answer to a lot of my prayers and fasting. He had been in Belgium and in Rotterdam North for the past week and a half due to some toxic paint he had used in his house. We were able to go by after church on Sunday and have a nice lesson with him about the Book of Mormon and a little review of the first half of the Plan of Salvation. He´s solid.
I love this gospel and am so thankful for it and the blessings that I have seen from it in my life and the lives of my family members. The Book of Mormon is true. Read it this week! It will change your life, I promise.
Everybody have a good week!
Love,
Elder Wright
