1 Nephi 8:11-12 -> "And it came to pass that I did go forth and partake of the fruit thereof; and I beheld that it was most sweet, above all that I ever before tasted. Yea, and I beheld that the fruit thereof was white, to exceed all the whiteness that I had ever seen. And as I partook of the fruit thereof it filled my soul with exceedingly great joy; wherefore, I began to be desirous that my family should partake of it also; for I knew that it was desirable above all other fruit."

Dear family and friends,

It was a very busy and very eventful week. We got a lot done and saw so many miracles! And I have a few funny experiences to share as well. It was a very solid week.

I'll start off with some things from last Monday. We went to this shopping center called Zuidplein to do some shopping after we had emailed. While there we got some stuff for our apartment, some ice cream and got to witness a lady's little dog pooping on the floor of the shopping center despite her yelling at him to stop. "Stomme hondje! Wat doe je?" Haha it was pretty funny. Afterwards Elder Thornock and I biked to thise nice Africa shop close to our house and got some nice shirts. I'll include a pic. Then I was able to get a haircut from the Moroccan guy next door and he didn't disappoint, as usual. I was falling asleep as he was cutting my hair but fortunately he was able to work around that. I think he thought it was a little weird though but I can't be sure because he doesn't speak English or Dutch and I don't speak Arabic or French. It's good.

We had some great lessons this week, a lot of them with new people. We met this very very nice girl name Louann on Wednesday as we were knocking doors. She is 24 and from Aruba and her and her friend are coming to church in two weeks! They've been searching for a new one because theirs is too far away... not a great reason to look for a new church, but we'll take it! We set up another lesson with her, her friend, and her little sister for this week so we'll see how that goes. We also met this lady named Jennij. She was raised as a Jehovah's Witness but isn't a member anymore. She was super nice and we had a very solid first lesson with her. She said that she was open to read the Book of Mormon and pray to know if it is true. The other new person/people we met were Najeska and her family. We met Najeska last week and talked to her on her door. We testified like thirty times during that contact so I think the bombarding from the Spirit must have broken through her shell a little bit because she invited us to come by again. We did and were able to share the Dankzij Hem/Because of Him video with her and her family. They loved it and were all open to have us come by again next week. They come from Curicao and I cannot pronounce any of their names, but it's good. They're great.

On Tuesday we were leaving an appointment with John Ardin and we passed these two drunk guys sitting on a door step. They had a canary in a cage right in front of them and I made a funny comment "Is die voor avondeten/Is that for dinner?" One of the guys just ignored me and the other guy didn't think it was very funny and started yelling at me and walked with us down half of the rest of the street saying "Dat is geen goede grapje!"... I guess I should be a little more careful making jokes about drunk guys' birds from now on. A little while later we were walking past some other guys and there was a stroller in front of their house with two baby dolls. I decided to try again and said "Hey succes met de kinderen!/Good luck with the kids!" They liked that one and both laughed and made jokes in return. You win some and you lose some I guess.

It got really warm this week and super humid. On Wednesday it was 35 C and we made sure to keep a lot of water in our car... thank goodness for the car... We were walking to go do a look up in the neighbourhood of Tarwewijk and we stopped to look at this dog in a window. It started barking at us so we walked away and then we heard a lady yelling at us from down the street. So we turned around and went to go talk to her. She thought we were from the government or something and was excited when she found out we are missionaries. We talked with her for a bit and then these two drunk kids walked up and one of them starting asking questions about the bible. The lady started answering them and pretty soon the drunk kid and her were fighting and bashing each other.. We sat down with the other kid and shared a video with him and then said our goodbye and left. By that point the lady was talking about iluminati and how she used to be a witch. I'm thankful that we didn't end up setting up an appointment with her, although I'll admit I've never had an appointment with an ex-witch before.

John is doing great. We only were able to meet with him twice this week and he didn't make it to church because his father is very sick and he might have to go to Suriname. We hope all goes well and we'll be praying for him and for his dad. We were able to get back in contact with some investigators this week, including John Isaac, Berry, and the inactive member Dwight. We also had a great lesson with Sampson and Dixon, who we had our first lesson with last week.

The work is going really well and we're seeing a ton of mircacles. I love the members here! I've really enjoyed getting to know them better and learning a lot from them. We have some very good and solid members here in Rotterdam South. I wish every missionary would get a chance to serve here at some point in there lives.

Everybody have a great week and enjoy the summer! Fijne week!

Love,
Elder Wright
