D&C 82:10 -> "I, the Lord, am bound when ye do what I say; but when ye do not what I say, ye have no promise."
Dear family and friends,
This week was crazy. There was a lot of running around, a lot of exchanging, a lot of driving, and a lot of work. It was awesome. We started the week off by going to the Blijdorp zoo last Monday. It was nice. Lots of cool animals. I love zoos. It was definitely worth it and we took a gagillion photos. I'll make sure to include a few. Elder Mikkelson (on his second transfer and serving in Rotterdam North) was rattling off random animal facts the whole time so not only was it an entertaining experience but it was also educational. Elder Mikkelson is a funny guy.
Wednesday was kind of crazy. We had three appointments cancelled on us and we were juggling missionaries around Rotterdam South all day due to a trip down to Brussels for on of the missionaries in the area, but it turned out okay and we had some really good lessons. One was with Berry! We had lost contact with him for about a month. We called him last week though and set an appointment up and it went really well. He also ended up coming to church on Sunday which was really nice. Berry is a great guy and I'm really excited to keep working with him and helping along the path to follow Jesus Christ.
We also had a lesson with Louann and her friend Ijsha. Louann was great but a little quiet and her friend talked as much as she could and rattled of random facts about the Bible and other religions and to be honest she was really annoying. She bases everything she believes off of proof and facts and just completely throws faith out the window and every time we would share doctrine that she didn't agree with or hadn't heard before she would roll her eyes and say something to try to make it sound like she knew what she was talking about. It was a little frustrating. It's good though. Louann was nice and we'll be meeting with both of them again this next week and they both should be coming to church this next Sunday. They'll be interesting to work with.
We didn't have another appointment with Jennij this week but we did get another one with Najeska. It went pretty well. She seemed to understand the message and said that she would take time to read in the Book of Mormon and pray about it and that she'd call us to make another appointment. Hopefully we'll be able to get in contact with both Najeska and Jennij again in the coming weeks.
Still no contact with John Ardin. He is probably in Suriname. We should find out this week. I'm not too worried about him though. He's solid and has found a strong testimony of the restored gospel.
On Sunday night we had a couple of really cool lessons. The first was with Sampson and Dixon. We read a chapter in the Book of Mormon with them and talked about it and talked about what we will be sharing with them next week, the Plan of Salvation. They are really positive and very excited to keep learning more. They said that they would both take time this week to read in the Book of Mormon. We also met this girl named Kimberly and taught her a lesson on the door. She was very nice and positive and willing to let us return for another appointment next week. To close off the night we brought an Italian Book of Mormon to this guy named Andreas. He is from Italy and is here studying/working. He grew up Catholic but quickly grew away from his faith and is now agnostic. He was very interested in learning about the Book of Mormon though and hearing our message because he had heard bits and pieces and seen missionaries in Italy but never spoken with them. We shared the Restoration with him and it answered a lot of questions that he has had for a long time. He accepted the invitation to read and pray about the Book of Mormon to know if it is true and he said, when we asked him, that if he does come to know that it is true it would definitely make sense for him to follow that answer and be baptized. It was really cool to see him change throughout the appointment and see how open he became to the message. He will be leaving to Italy for a month but invited us to come back when he returns.
We have another great and busy week lined up this coming week. I love Rotterdam South. I say it every week, but it really is such a great city and a fun city to work in. It's great working with Elder Thornock here as well. We are enjoying it and it's been a really great transfer.
Everybody have a great first week of August!
Love,
Elder Wright
