D&C 58:27 -> "Verily I say, men should be anxiously engaged in a good cause, and do many things of their own free will, and bring to pass much righteousness..."

Dear family and friends,

This week was really good. We were able to start seeing a lot of investigators progress and meet a couple of really nice new people. We had great follow-up lessons with Mindy, Broeder de Windt, and Frederico. Our lesson with Frederico was really cool. We talked about prayer and recognizing answers to prayer. We got there and he had already read three chapters in the Book of Mormon since we gave it to him last Saturday! That's a lot within the first week compared to all of the other investigators I have had. He said a really nice prayer at the end of the lesson and thanked our Heavenly Father for a lot of good things. He will be coming to church this coming Sunday. Go Frederico!

We had an exchange with the Assistants in Amsterdam on Thursday. I had the opportunity to work with Elder Crowder! Just like old times.. a month ago. It was great though and fun to be able to work in a different city. Amsterdam is a fun place and we met a lot of cool people and set up return appointments with a man name Rahib and a girl named Sairah. It was really cool working with Elder Crowder again and we were able to catch up a little bit and I learned some fun, new contacting techniques from him that he has picked up recently.

On Friday night we had an appointment with Mark (he was baptized a little over a year ago) and his new wife Togi (she is from Mongolia). They invited a friend of theirs over named Ichtska (unsure about spelling, but also Mongolian) and she wants to learn more about the gospel. She speaks pretty good Dutch and has had some pretty hard experiences since she has lived in the Netherlands. We will go and get to know her better and have a lesson with her this week with Togi coming along as well.

John Ardin Update: John is for sure in Suriname now. We stopped by and talked with one of his neighbors who told us that he is still in Suriname, due to the death of his father. It was good to hear and we should be back in contact with him as soon as he gets back. Hopefully I'll be here when that happens.

I started reading talk suggested to me by several missionaries throughout my mission. It's called 'Becoming a Consecrated Missionary' and it is amazing! I wish I would've read it earlier in my mission, but it is really cool. He talks about what a consecrated missionary is, what we need to do to become one, and why it is important. He talks of how it is important to recognize that the Lord's will is more important than our own. We just need to learn to submit to His will. It is really cool and I'm excited to start making changes in my own life and missionary work to better focus my time and all that I do on the work that I have been called to. It is true after all and it changes lives.

I hope you all have a nice week! Enjoy the last few weeks of August!

Love,
Elder Wright
