3 Nephi 1:13 -> "Lift up your head and be of good cheer; for behold, the time is at hand, and on this night shall the sign be given, and on the morrow come I into the world, to show unto the world that I will fulfil all that which I have caused to be spoken by the mouth of my holy prophets."
To be honest, this week was pretty slow. We had eight appointments fall through and we had to drop quite a few investigators due to lack of progression or loss of contact. We did get back in contact with John Ardin but unfortunately he is really suffering from the death of his father, who he was really close to, and as a result he is going to spend a few weeks with his daughters in Antwerpen. We hope he improves and is able to find peace after his father's death and we will be looking forward to meeting with him again.
Despite all of the lows of the week, we still saw a lot of little miracles and tender mercies from Heavenly Father that really made the whole week worth it! Right now I am reading in the book of 3 Nephi and during personal study on Saturday I read verse 8 of chapter 1 which says: "But behold, they did watch steadfastly for that day and that night and that day which should be as one day as if there were no night, that they might know that their faith had not been vain." That scripture gave me a lot of hope and faith and reminded me to be patient and watch steadfastly for the miracles that will come. Patience... Saturday night we looked up a former, Fahreen, and we talked to her and her boyfriend for a little bit. They are both 24 and they started dating nine years ago. They are both students here in Rotterdam and both come from Curaçao. We were able to set up an appointment with them in two weeks and they are really interested in the doctrine of eternal families. I'm excited to work with them. It made me happy to talk with them and see how happy they are and how they are humble enough to be open to learning about the Restored Gospel.
Another cool little miracle was that Frederico came to the first hour of church today! He sat by Oma Buntin and talked a lot with Zuster Pieplenbosch and Efrain and Alicia and Oma and Zuster Pieplenbosch both invited him to dinner this week and next week. I love our members! He said he will come to church next week as well and this week we will have a lesson with him after eating dinner with Oma Buntin.
One last tender mercy was yesterday after a lesson with this guy named Sampson we were walking back to our car and we saw Oma Buntin sitting on the steps outside her home enjoying the weather (it was really hot this week and yesterday was a little cooler and very nice). We sat down and chatted with her a little bit and told her how the lesson went. At one point she was telling us about the many times that she has been to Spain and she told me, "Wisconsky, when you go home and get married, you and your wife can come back here and we can all take a bus down to Spain. That'd be nice wouldn't it?" Haha she's a great woman and really a blessing in my life. She is so good to me and to all of the missionaries.
I hope this letter finds all of you happy and safe having had a nice end to summer and I pray that September will treat you well. I love being a missionary and I love serving the people here in the Netherlands, especially the Rotterdammers. I love my Heavenly Father and am thankful for the opportunity that I have to serve him fulltime a little bit longer.
Love,
Elder Wright
