Genesis 29:20 -> "And Jacob served seven years for Rachel; and they seemed unto him but a few days, for the love he had to her."

Dear family and friends,

This week will be a special email dedicated to the Omas of Rotterdam. Oma Buntin, Oma Croese, and Oma Van Den Berge. This is inspired from the events of Saturday that lead to us coming in contact with all three of these wonderful women within a period of seven or eight hours. We did service with Oma Croese in the morning and then we were able to attend Oma Van Den Berge's birthday party in the evening where all three Omas were present. They are all amazing and have been very loving to me during my time in Rotterdam. Here is a short description of my mission Omas:

Oma Buntin: If you have read any of my other emails then you have probably heard a lot about Oma Buntin. She is a loving Curicaoan, baptized long ago in the 80s. She still remembers the missionaries who taught her, especially Elder Harris who she was very fond of. She cooks for us almost every Saturday and we often end up helping her clean something. She is very quotable and always gives us very solid life advice. She is hilarious and we all end up laughing with her for a large majority of appointments with her. She can't really remember the names of most missionaries so she makes up nicknames instead. Mine is Wisconsky.

Oma Croese: Oma Croese is the definition of Dutch. She was born in Vriesland (in the far north of the Netherlands) and grew up in Groningen. I met on my very first day in the Netherlands and haven't been able to understand her since! That's not true, but her accent is bad news for greenies. She can be a tough nut to crack but once you get on her good side she is one of the most fun and loving Omas ter wereld. We always go over and weed her yard and then drink chocolate milk and eat soup or broodjes. If you sit by her in sacrament meeting she'll make little jokes throughout half of the meeting and slip you some candy.

Oma Van Den Berge: Oma van den Berg is one of the nicest and most loving women on the planet. She is the mother-in-law of the Bishop and on Saturday night we celebrated her 90th birthday! I was here last year for her 89th birthday so it was fun to celebrate with her again. She's such a good woman and she took a whole box of Book of Mormons from us to give to friends and neighboors.
Investigator update: This week was a little slow finding new people but we were able to come back in contact with old investigators and start teaching one new woman name Nikita. We also met with John Ardin again! It was a little weird. He's a funny guy. We had set up an appointment with him on Friday night and when we got there he was driving away with a friend. He told us he would be back soon and then tossed us his keys and said to go and sit down and grab a drink.. so we sat in John's house for half an hour waiting for him to get back. Eventually he came back and we watched a mormon message and caught up a little bit. It was an interesting experience. We might help him paint his house next week. We were supposed to meet with Fahreen and her boyfriend again this week, unfortunately Fahreen is really sick and so right now we can't meet with them but will just have to stay in contact over the phone which is a bummer. They're still great though and very positive. We also got back in contact with Darrel (an inactive member whose girlfriend, Anne, we were teaching) and made an appointment with him so that's fun. It was a good week though! And we set up a great week for next week. We're excited.

Everybody have a great week and give your Omas some love!

Love,
Elder Wright
